Our Farms ›
Multiple wholly owned properties across Central California San Joaquin Valley. Mature producing orchards alongside properties entering peak yield – diversified by crop, variety, water district, and harvest age.
Our Structure ›PistachioSt grows from one of California's deepest pistachio lineages. The Orandi family's roots trace back to ancient Persia, where saplings carried from that region took hold in the soil of the Central Valley and flourished into the Orandi Ranch orchards.
Today that inheritance – generations of growers' expertise – is paired with modern agronomy, rigorous food-safety standards, and a fully vertically integrated platform. Old-world craftsmanship, state-of-the-art method, one mission: farming the finest pistachios.
PistachioSt brings together a seventh-generation farming family, a family office, and a quasi-institutional partner to combine deep agricultural expertise with long-term capital, disciplined governance, and operational excellence.
Dr. Mehdi Orandi planted the first Orandi Ranch trees in 1971, after growing up on a pistachio farm in Rafsanjan, Iran. His son Adam began apprenticing alongside him in 1986, learning every stage of farming and processing from the ground up.
For decades, father and son worked that same land together – the oldest, most mature trees beside newer developing orchards – and Adam continues that work today, advancing the innovative crop development and harvesting methods that define the family's name.
"Those before us farmed for us, and we farm for those to follow."
Dr. Mehdi Orandi, as told by Adam OrandiAdam Orandi is a seventh-generation pistachio grower, agribusiness executive, and former processor with more than three decades of leadership across farming, processing, and global marketing. He studied Marketing and Business Administration at the University of Minnesota and completed the Agribusiness Pistachio Program at UC Davis, then stepped into a full-time role at Orandi Ranch in 1993 – serving as Plant Manager and CEO of the processing operation through 2008.
In 2008 he founded ARO Pistachios, Inc., conceiving and executing a refurbishment and double expansion of the processing facility. He scaled it from under one million pounds in its first 2011 harvest to 30 million pounds annually by 2019, grew the team from fewer than 10 employees to more than 200, and earned HACCP, GMP, GAP, and Kosher certifications.
Today Adam owns AOK Farming, LLC, overseeing roughly 1,700 acres of pistachios, almonds, and citrus across California; serves as Founder and CEO of ARO Pistachios; and is a Founding Partner of Pistachio St. He served two terms on the board of American Pistachio Growers (2012–2018) and as President of the California Pistachio Export Council in 2019, and was honored at the 2016 Fresno Food Expo for Best New Product Innovation and Best New Package Design.

Zerker Ranch is one of PistachioSt's longest-established properties, with Kerman pistachio trees planted in 1994 on Pioneer Gold rootstock – now over 30 years in the ground and at peak maturity. Located near Delano in the southern San Joaquin Valley, the 159-acre ranch sits at the intersection of Zerker Road and Elmo Highway.
The property benefits from dual water access: contract water through the Southern San Joaquin Municipal Utility District, supplemented by a 1,500-foot on-site irrigation well equipped with a 350 HP electric motor. Soils are predominantly Grade 1 Wasco and Zerker sandy loam – among the most productive classifications in the USDA California Revised Storie Index. A drip irrigation system delivers precision water management across the entire planted area.
Zerker Ranch is fully integrated into the PistachioSt processing and distribution network, with harvest running September through October.
Oliveira Ranch is PistachioSt's largest single property – 874 acres in Kings County with 801 acres under cultivation. The pistachio operation spans two planting vintages: a 42-acre mature block planted in 2006 and a 689-acre expansion planted in 2019, now entering peak production age. A complementary 70-acre almond block, planted in 2012, provides crop diversification across the same property.
Water supply is robust, drawing from the Laguna Irrigation District alongside on-site wells and surface tie-ins – giving the ranch three independent water sources. The 2019 pistachio block is now entering its peak production years.
The 2019 block is currently entering its most productive years, with the 2007 vintage block already at full maturity. Harvest runs September through October across both pistachio blocks.
Bassett Ranch sits in Pixley, Tulare County, and represents one of PistachioSt's most diverse single properties – split equally between pistachio and almond cultivation. The 107-acre Golden Hills pistachio block was planted in 2019 and recorded its first commercial harvest in 2025. The 105-acre almond block, planted in 2016 with Nonpareil and Monterey varieties, has been in consistent production since 2019.
Soils across the entire property are 100% Storie Grade 1 – among the highest classifications available. Water supply draws from the Pixley Irrigation District alongside two on-site wells (200 HP and 100 HP) and an on-farm reservoir, providing redundant irrigation capacity across both crop types.
Pistachios are in their early production ramp – the 107-acre block recorded its first commercial harvest in 2025, with production expected to grow as the trees mature toward peak yield.
Bassett – 60 comprises two adjacent mature pistachio parcels in Kern County – the 41-acre Bassett Avenue block planted in 2010 with Kerman variety, and the 18.98-acre Cecil Avenue block planted in 2014 with Lost Hills variety. Both parcels sit on UCB-1 rootstock with Exeter Loam soils, and draw water from the Kern Tulare Water District.
The Bassett Avenue block is a mature, well-established Kerman planting. At 60 combined acres, Bassett – 60 complements the larger Bassett – 214 property and rounds out PistachioSt's Kern County footprint.
Two adjacent parcels managed as a single operational unit. Strong on-year production history across both blocks, with the older Kerman block demonstrating consistent mature yields.
AOK is PistachioSt's most expansive holding – 1,722 gross acres across 18 producing pistachio ranches in Tulare, Kings, and Fresno Counties, unified under a single management structure. Varieties include Kerman, Golden Hills, Lost Hills, and Kaleh Ghouchi, with plantings from the 2016–2019 vintage window now entering their peak production cycle.
The portfolio draws water from five distinct district sources – Saucelito, Laguna, Lemoore Canal, Westlands, and Pixley GSAs – providing significant water supply resilience. The portfolio's stabilized blocks are in full production, with younger plantings still ramping toward peak output through 2027.
Eighteen producing ranches under unified management. The 2016–2019 planting vintages are entering the highest-yield years of their productive life, with peak output expected between 2025 and 2027.
Ranch 5 is a 142-acre property in Tulare County, with 102 planted acres of pistachios roughly ten years in the ground – now producing at or near peak capacity.
The ranch was acquired in 2026 as part of PistachioSt's southern San Joaquin Valley portfolio.
Ranch 5 is managed within PistachioSt's Tulare County portfolio, with harvest running September through October.
Ranch 14 is a 36-acre property in Tulare County, with 35 planted acres of pistachios roughly ten years in the ground – now producing at or near peak capacity.
Ranch 14 was acquired in 2026 and sits within PistachioSt's southern San Joaquin Valley portfolio.
Ranch 14 is managed within PistachioSt's Tulare County portfolio, with harvest running September through October.
PurYear is a 349-acre property in Kern County with 321 planted acres of mature pistachios. Acquired in 2025, it sits among PistachioSt's established holdings in the southern San Joaquin Valley.
The ranch draws on two independent water sources – affordable, managed surface water through the Cawelo Irrigation District, reinforced by a 600-horsepower private well on a drip irrigation system.
A mature, in-production pistachio property fully integrated into the PistachioSt platform, with harvest running September through October.
California produces roughly 99% of all pistachios grown in the United States – a near-total share built on a rare alignment of climate, soil, and water infrastructure. Global consumption has climbed for a decade, with demand rising fastest across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

Pistachio trees demand hot, dry summers above 100°F and cold winters delivering 1,000+ chill hours for proper bud break – a pairing that exists in very few places worldwide. California's San Joaquin Valley is among its finest expressions.
Deep, well-drained Central Valley soils give roots room to establish and drain naturally, while modern drip irrigation has sharply cut water use per pound. PistachioSt properties run 20–25% below the state benchmark for water intensity.
Pistachios are among the most nutrient-dense tree nuts. A single one-ounce serving – about 49 kernels, more nuts per serving than any other snack nut – delivers protein, fiber, heart-healthy fats, and potassium, and is naturally free of cholesterol and sodium.
They're also among the lowest-calorie nuts and one of the most vitamin-B6-rich foods available, carrying a distinctive mix of antioxidants – vitamin E, polyphenols, and the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin.
More than a hundred studies have examined how pistachios fit into a healthy diet. The findings point consistently in one direction: a nutrient-dense food that supports heart, metabolic, and weight health as part of a balanced, plant-forward eating pattern.
Heart Health
The FDA's qualified health claim notes that eating 1.5 oz of nuts daily, as part of a diet low in saturated fat, may reduce the risk of heart disease. Pistachios' unsaturated fats are associated with lower LDL and oxidized-LDL cholesterol.
Blood Pressure & Blood Sugar
A naturally low-glycemic food, pistachios metabolize slowly and gently affect blood sugar. Research also associates regular intake with lower blood pressure – in some studies, more than any other nut.
Weight & Satiety
Fiber and protein help people feel full on fewer calories. In one study, people eating in-shell pistachios took in 41% fewer calories in a sitting – shelling paces eating, and the empty shells signal how much has been eaten.
Antioxidants & Eye Health
Pistachios carry vitamin E, polyphenols, and the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin – antioxidants linked to eye health and rarely found together in other nuts.

One of the only nuts that qualifies as a complete protein.
The Protein Story · Classified 2020All Nine Essential Amino Acids
In 2020, U.S.-grown roasted pistachios were classified as a complete protein – joining a short list of plant foods such as soy and quinoa that supply every essential amino acid in the amounts adults need. Nearly every other nut falls short on at least one.
A Genuine Protein Source – PDCAAS 81%
On the standard protein-quality scale, roasted pistachios score 81% – higher than many other tree nuts and only modestly below animal proteins. That makes them a real plant-based protein, not just a garnish.

Consumers worldwide are trading processed snacks for nutrient-dense, plant-based options – and pistachios sit squarely in that shift. As a complete-protein, heart-healthy, portion-friendly snack, they benefit from the same forces driving flexitarian and Mediterranean-style eating.
That demand is broad and durable. Snacking is the single largest use of pistachios, interest in plant-based protein keeps climbing, and awareness of the nut's nutrition continues to grow – supporting a decade-long rise in global consumption.
